California-Inspired Monochromatic Living Room

Marcy Says...

The inspiration around this room was Amanda Woods' charming California home from the movie The Holiday.

This is a look that anyone can achieve. I love monochromatic colour schemes because they are timeless and can work with a variety of styles.

I found this beautiful and comfortable Cameron Ivory Sofa; I loved the two large seat cushions and its casual look. Next, to add some warmth, I choose these two brown leather Childers Chairs. They look almost like two pieces of art in this space. Another one of my favorite pieces in the space is the Christie Metal Desk. This furniture piece resembles an antique and I love it paired with the white chair.* Art always catches my eye in a room and these four abstract paintings work nicely above the sofa. The silver frames add the perfect finish to the wall.

I can see this room located in a California home off of the beach. I love how this space isn’t overly masculine or feminine and appeal to many different styles.

I want someone to feel calm and comfortable when they are enjoying time in this space. I want it to be a place where they can entertain their guests or have a night in and get cozy on the large sofa.

* Editor’s Note: This white chair flew off the shelves! Another piece we’d pair with this look would be the Smart Distressed Dining Chair.
